This device uses fluorescence, an optical technique. Under the specialized white light, normal tissues glow bright green. Abnormal tissue does not glow and be easy for your dentist to spot.
Abnormal screenings do not automatically mean that a patient has cancer. If abnormal results are found from a screening, your dentist will schedule a second scan several days later. There, your dentist will see if the dark spots have disappeared, or they may perform a biopsy to determine whether or not the spots are indeed cancer.
